Winter is the perfect time to reset, reorganize, and clear out the old to make room for the new. After the holidays—when electronics are upgraded, appliances are replaced, and closets are rearranged—many households find themselves surrounded by items they no longer need. But instead of letting unwanted devices and equipment pile up, the safest and most responsible solution is to recycle them properly.

That’s why Responsible Recycling Services is hosting three free community recycling events this winter, offering residents a simple, accessible way to recycle electronics, appliances, metal items, and more. Whether you have a TV that finally gave out, a box of tangled cables, or outdated home gadgets collecting dust, these events make it easy to dispose of them the right way.

What You Can Recycle for Free

These winter events include a long list of items that can be recycled at no cost, making it easy to clear out a wide variety of electronics and household equipment. You can bring:

  • Desktop computers and laptops

  • Printers, fax machines, and scanners

  • Keyboards, mice, and cables

  • Tablets, phones, and smart devices

  • DVD players, VCRs, and gaming systems

  • Microwaves and small appliances

  • Metal items and water heaters

  • Sealed lead-acid car batteries

  • Refrigerators, freezers & dehumidifiers

  • Washers, dryers, stoves & dishwashers

  • Air conditioners and window units

  • Filing cabinets and floor copiers

  • Grills and lawnmowers (fluids removed)

If it plugs in, cools, heats, stores energy, or runs on electricity, there’s a good chance we can recycle it—and most items are completely free.

Recycling TVs & Monitors

TVs and computer monitors require special handling and cannot be recycled for free at our winter events. All screens—regardless of type—carry a small recycling fee to ensure they are processed safely and responsibly.

  • Computer monitors: $20
  • TVs under 42″: $40
  • TVs over 42″ or in wooden consoles: $60

These fees cover the certified, environmentally safe processing of screens that contain components requiring careful disposal.

Secure Destruction Services Available

For anyone clearing out old office equipment or sensitive data, the following services are available at half price during each event:

  • Hard drive destruction: $5 per drive (regularly $10)
  • Document destruction: $5 per standard paper box (regularly $10)

This is an easy way to ensure your information is handled securely and responsibly.

Why Winter Is the Best Time to Recycle

Winter months offer fewer public recycling events in many communities, which can make it harder to dispose of electronics and appliances safely. That’s why these early-year events are such a valuable resource: they give you a reliable, local way to recycle items that shouldn’t go into the trash.

Plus, winter clean-outs help you:

  • Reclaim valuable storage space
  • Remove safety hazards from your home
  • Prepare for new purchases or renovations
  • Prevent electronics and batteries from ending up in the landfill
  • Start the new year lighter and more organized

Whether you’re addressing holiday overflow or planning ahead for spring, this is the perfect time to gather those old devices and bring them in.

Fast, Friendly, and Community-Focused

Our winter recycling events are designed to be quick and convenient. Simply pull up with your items, and our trained staff will assist with unloading, sorting, and ensuring everything is processed properly. Most people are in and out in just a few minutes.

No long lines. No complicated process. Just easy, responsible recycling for the whole community.
