The new year kicked off strong at Responsible Recycling Services with our January 3, 2026 Free Electronics Recycling Event, and the community showed up in a big way. We welcomed a steady flow of residents taking advantage of free recycling, secure data destruction, and an easy, responsible way to clear out unwanted electronics.
If you missed January’s event, don’t worry — two more free winter recycling events are still coming, and they’re the perfect opportunity to clean out your home, office, or garage while protecting the environment and your personal information.

What You Can Recycle for Free
These community events make recycling easy and affordable. Many items are accepted at no cost, including:
- Desktop computers and laptops
- Printers, scanners, and fax machines
- Keyboards, mice, cords, and chargers
- Phones, tablets, and small electronics
- DVD players, gaming systems, and VCRs
- Microwaves and small appliances
- Metal items and water heaters
- Filing cabinets and floor copiers
- Grills, lawn mowers, and exercise equipment
- Refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and air conditioners
If it plugs in, runs on electricity, or is made of metal, there’s a good chance we can recycle it responsibly.
TV and Monitor Recycling Fees
Some items require special handling and carry a small fee:
- Computer monitors: $20
- TVs under 42” (CRT or flat screen): $40
- TVs over 42” or wooden console TVs: $60
These fees support safe, compliant processing of screen components.
Secure Recycling You Can Trust
One of the biggest benefits of recycling with Responsible Recycling Services is peace of mind. In addition to electronics recycling, we offer:
- Hard drive destruction
- Document shredding
All data destruction services are performed securely and you will receive a certificate of destruction, providing documented proof that your sensitive information has been properly destroyed.
Why Data Destruction Matters — and Why Who You Recycle With Is Important
Old phones, computers, and hard drives often contain far more personal and sensitive information than people realize. Even when files are deleted, data can still be recovered if devices are not properly destroyed. This can include:
- Personal photos and messages
- Financial and banking information
- Passwords and login credentials
- Medical or employment records
Improper disposal or recycling through unverified outlets can put your data at risk. That’s why it’s important to recycle with a provider that offers secure destruction services and clear accountability.
At Responsible Recycling Services, data-bearing devices are handled with care, destroyed using secure methods, and documented with a certificate of destruction when requested — giving you confidence that your information will not be resold, recovered, or misused.
Why These Events Matter
Our January event showed how much the community values safe, responsible recycling. Every item recycled keeps harmful materials out of landfills, conserves valuable resources, and helps protect individuals and families from identity theft and data breaches.
If you missed the January 3rd event, don’t miss your chance to join us in February or March. Clean out clutter, recycle responsibly, and leave knowing your electronics — and your data — were handled the right way.
