At Responsible Recycling Services, our goal has always been simple. Make recycling easier, more accessible, and more valuable for our community. As more households and businesses look for responsible ways to dispose of unwanted items, we continue to expand our services to meet those needs.
We are excited to announce several important updates that make recycling with us even more convenient and cost-effective.
Now Accepting Satellite Dishes
One of the most common questions we hear at events and drop-off days is about satellite dishes. Many people have them sitting unused after switching providers or services, and they are often unsure how to properly dispose of them.
We are now officially accepting satellite dishes at our facility. This gives homeowners and businesses a responsible option for recycling these bulky metal items instead of sending them to the landfill. Satellite dishes contain valuable recyclable materials and should be handled properly.
If you have one sitting on your roof, in your garage, or behind your building, now is the time to clear it out.
Free Appliance Recycling at Our Location
We are also making a major upgrade to our appliance recycling program. Responsible Recycling Services will now accept ALL non-Freon appliances for free at our RRS location.
This is a significant change that removes cost barriers and encourages proper recycling of large household and commercial items.
Free drop-off items now include:
- Washers
- Dryers
- Dishwashers
- Stoves
- Microwaves
- Water heaters
- Small household appliances
This update makes it easier than ever to responsibly dispose of old or broken appliances without worrying about additional fees.
Important Note on Freon-Containing Appliances
While many appliances are now free to recycle, items that contain Freon still require special handling and processing. Because of this, these items will continue to have a fee.
Appliances that still require a fee ($25–$35) include:
- Refrigerators
- Air conditioners
- Dehumidifiers
- Water coolers
- Ice makers
- Mini fridges
These units must be processed carefully to remove refrigerants in an environmentally safe way, which is why the fee remains in place.
Why This Matters
These updates are not just about convenience. They are about impact.
By expanding what we accept and reducing costs where possible, we are helping:
- Keep more materials out of landfills
- Increase recycling participation in the community
- Provide affordable solutions for homeowners and businesses
- Support environmentally responsible disposal practices
Large metal appliances and satellite dishes contain valuable materials that can be recovered and reused. When recycled properly, they reduce the need for new raw materials and lower environmental strain.
What This Means for You
If you have been holding onto old appliances or wondering what to do with outdated equipment, now is the perfect time to act.
You can:
- Clean out your garage, basement, or property

- Responsibly dispose of items that are often difficult to recycle elsewhere
